The major differences between graphic design for print vs video are as follows:
Print requirements: 300 dpi and up, CMYK color space, vector graphics (scalable with out loss of resolution), high resolution photography (raw .CR2 images, 10 megapixels and up, 16- 32 bit output)
Video/Motion Graphics and Web: 72 dpi, RGB color space, pixels (not scalable for print, resolution is too low),
8 - 10 bit output.
Print is interchangeable to Video and Motion Graphics as its resolution is high enough to be converted with clarity.
Video and Motion Graphics are NOT convertible to print, as the resolution is to low of quality and the color space is not CMYK.
You can create assets that work in both media formats, however you must start with print configuration outputs first. For example, if you are creating 3d Images, Photography or Logos for print and video, you must produce 300 dpi and up CMYK image or vector outputs in order to maintain resolution for print. Then convert those Assets to RGB for use in Video or Motion Graphics.
Standard print output file types: CMYK color space .eps .ai .pdf .psd 300 dpi and up
Standard video/motion graphic output file types: .mov .mp4 .avi .mpeg2 .mts 72 dpi
